Quinn Hills is a transgender singer-songwriter living in East Nashville, Tennessee.

Quinn realized she was trans on The Fourth of July, 2021 (hereafter “Quinndependence Day”) and has written a number of songs since then chronicling the painful and joyous ups and downs of being a queer woman in a world that wasn’t designed for her.

Her music bucks genre conventions not unlike many of her influences: Tracy Chapman, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, Billy Joel, and Weezer. One day Quinn will be working on an industrial rock song and the next a twangy country tune. But through it all remains a winking sense of humor, a healthy dose of hormone-induced angst, and a punk rock ethos.

In 2023, Quinn featured prominently in a Washington Post story on transgender people living and thriving in Tennessee where she stated, “Coming out as a trans woman and being myself in the world has magnified any joy I might have experienced before by tenfold or more.”

Quinn’s debut single “A PRAYER FOR NOBODY” channels Quinn’s feelings of helplessness and rage in the face of abuse through a devilish mixture of hypnotic drum beats, wailing vocals, bombastic guitar, and parochial organ. Quinn affectionately calls the track “danceable trauma.”

Her self-produced album IGNORE ALL PREVIOUS INSTRUCTIONS arrives on digital platforms and cassette tape on September 13, 2024.
